‘How newspapers can survive the Internet era’

The future of newspaper industry in Nigeria was the focus as media proprietors, and practitioners gathered in Lagos to honour the doyen of journalism, Sam Amuka, publisher of Vanguard newspapers.

Mr. Ted Iwere, while delivering a lecture on Today’s Newsroom, Tomorrow’s Newspapers: How to Survive and Thrive in the Internet Age, advised the media to adopt strategies that will enable them survive the onslaught of the Internet.

According to him, newspapers should move from print-first production process, to digital-first strategy in newspaper production.

He also said that the new set of skills and professionals, such as multimedia reporters, engagement editors, photo/videographers are now required for papers to remain in business. See Photos
