Ado Ekiti—Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has alleged that a letter to stop the Federal Government from refunding money it owed the state on projects has been written by the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Jackson Adebayo disclosed this in a statement he made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti during the weekend.

He said that the APC leadership decided to write President Muhammadu Buhari in order to cover up their earlier allegations that the state governor, Mr Ayo Fayose had collected a sum of N22 billion as a refund for the federal road projects exeuted by the state, which has been declared to be untrue by the president.

Adebayo also disclosed that one of the members of the state executive committee of the APC in Ekiti State confirmed that the letter was written after they learnt the amount the Federal Government is owning the state is far below the N22 billion they have been brandishing as well as the folly in saying that N22bn was paid for a project that worth only N15bn, which part payment have been made to the past administration.

In the letter according to the PDP spokesman, President Buhari was asked to protect the interest of the party in the state so that it will not lose face with the people in the subsequent elections tin the state.

Adebayo added that the APC leaderships have already contacted some national Assembly members elected on the platform of their party to disregard any provision that may be made for the federal projects in Ekiti state so as to forestall any chance by which the refund could be included in the next budget of the federation.
