Akure—WORKERS in Ondo State yesterday cautioned the government against diverting the bail-out fund from the Federal Government to capital projects.
This is coming against speculations that the state government was planning to use part of the fund to complete two major projects in the state.
The two projects, according to sources include the International event centre, popularly known as the “Dome” and the Akure to Oba-Ile dual carriageway.
The state Trade Union Congress (TUC) called on the state government to spend the money for its primary purpose of paying accumulated salaries of workers.
Its Chairman, Comrade Sola Ekundayo and the Secretary, Comrade Fatuase Clement stated this in a statement issued in Akure.
“The Congress will not tolerate diversion of such fund into any capital project.
“We are not against embarking on capital projects but our welfare must first and foremost be taken care of in terms of salaries and allowances,” the statement said.
