Osogbo—All Progressives Congress APC in Osun State has said it has uncovered a secret plot by some agents of destabilization to allegedly cause mayhem in the state using the opportunity of the salary issues as reason to recruit a section of unsuspecting workers in the state into their evil plots.
According to a statement by the party’s spokesperson, Mr Kunle Oyatomi in Osogbo yesterday, this was in spite of the apparent commitment of the state government to a quick end to the issue with last Tuesday’s commencement of payment of November and December salaries to workers and the promise by the government to ensure the other arrears are cleared.
The statement read in part: “specifically, credible and intelligence information at our disposal have shown that a secret meeting was held at the state headquarters of one of the unions at the state capital Osogbo on Wednesday July 1, 2015 between 11am and 3pm where plans were hatched on new ways to embarrass the state government by publicly cooking food in the heart of the state capital in the full glare of the public and distributing same.
“As part of the plot to paint gloomy pictures of the state, those behind this plot have resolved to get support from the opposition elements in the state in order to give maximum publicity to their embarrassing plot.
“Specifically, information at our disposal indicates that the plot has the backing of a PDP chieftain in the state, who has given assurances of media coverage through his illegal radio station in addition to other private televisions and radio to beam the drama to the whole world.”
“To this end, we wish to alert the security personnel and the general public to these clandestine moves aimed at creating a state of panic and tension in Osun.
“There is no doubt about the commitment of the Government of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to clear the arrears of salaries, restore the state’s culture of prompt payments of salaries and ensure speedy delivery of development goals of his administration for the betterment of our people as promised by our party,” the APC added.
