Ahead of the 2015 edition of the Digital Africa conference & exhibition slated for next month in Abuja, promoters of the event have announced the appointment of renowned banker and economist, Mallam Muhammed Hayatudeen as the Chairman event.
Themed: “Expanding African Capacity for Digital Technology,” this year’s edition of Digital Africa Conference & Exhibition is expected to address broad range of topics aimed at broadening Africa’s IT capability.
Wearables, which is the next big revolution that will transform the way people live, the organizers said will top discussion.
Wearables are devices that can be worn by the user but are intended to interact with the wearer without holding keys or other form of manipulations.
Speaking on the event, Dr. Evans Woherem, the Chairman of Digital Africa Global Consult Ltd, organisers of the annual show, expressed delight that Mallam Hayatudeen has accepted to chair the international event where astute veteran speakers will explore and pontificate on emergent technologies that can boost the socio-economic development of Africa.
According to him, insightful and thought-provoking presentations and discussions on contemporary and futuristic technology concepts are featured in this year’s highly stimulating thematic sessions at the Digital Africa Conference & Exhibitions.
Hayatudeen had used his wealth of experience in 1992 to transform the hitherto dormant Federal Savings Bank, FSB into a thriving commercial bank.
His effort led to the establishment of the now defunct FSB International Bank.
Acclaimed as one of the moving spirits behind the Nigerian Economic Summit that has set the agenda for restructuring the Nigerian economy and putting it on a firm foundation, the Nigerian Economic Summit served as a precursor of the Vision 2010 where Hayatudeen also played a prominent role.
As an entrepreneur, his most laudable offering is the new Mall in Kano that hosts great international shops such as Shoprite. The Mall is making waves in Kano and thereby helping to ginger up economic activities in the ancient city.
An Economics graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Hayatudeen had earlier worked in the Northern Nigerian Development Company where he retired as managing director. He set up a private consulting firm which he managed before coming to FSB. He served as member of numerous regulatory bodies including the Technical Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation (TCPC).
Only recently, he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as a member of his Transition Committee.
