PORT HARCOURT — Rivers State House of Assembly has ordered the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Emmanuel Aguma, to act within the law to compel former Governor Rotimi Amaechi to hand over assets and liabilities of the state to the new government.

It will be recalled that Governor Nyesom Wike has cried out several times that the former government refused to hand over to him.

The member representing Degema constituency in the House, Farah Dagogo, moved the motion, calling on the House to empower the Attorney General to compel the former governor to submit handover notes to Governor Wike.

“Part of our oversight function is to prevent people and institutions from doing the wrong thing. If we fail to do this, we are setting a bad precedent in the state. This is why this motion is important considering the fact that the past administration failed to present handover notes. As it stands now, the current position of the state finances is unknown,” he said.
