Enugu—Former speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Dr. Olisa Imegwu, said yesterday that he was not at all enthused by the current salary review by the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Review Commission, RMFRC, that drastically cut down salaries of the President and others, describing it as half-hearted.
Imegwu, who spoke on phone to Vanguard, said: “The review of salaries of public officers, as presented by the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Review Commission, is half-hearted.
“For Nigerians to take them seriously, they should not only review those of ministries/parastatals, they should recommend the removal of pension for governors currently in our constitution.
“Public service should be seen as a sacrifice and service to the masses and not an avenue for enrichment. “Remuneration should be made modest or less attractive to attract only those who are interested in service than making money and it will remove desperation for public office.”
