The just concluded traditional unveiling of the Asa Mbaitoli, a beauty pageant aimed at promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo nation has rekindled the people’s passion for the things of beauty.   The contest which is open to all damsels from the Igbo extraction is poised to reopen a discourse on the place of pageants in the Igbo nation.

Asa Mbaitoli beauty pageant is the brain child of Big style Entertainment, headed by Mr. Onwuegbuchalam Oscar Ifeanyi, who early last month called for its official induction by key royal fathers in Imo State.

At the event, the traditional rulers reiterated the need for all Africans to revere, uphold and pride themselves in the rich and diversified African traditions as handed down to them by God.

In his speech, Engr Njoku Daniel encouraged Igbo youths to embrace the Igbo language while appreciating its culture, and traditions. In a similar vein, one Mr. Anuruo commended Big style Entertainment for organizing such a wonderful program that will ensure the longevity of the Igbo traditions. He also called on the government to ensure that the Igbo language is made the lingua franca in all schools, while Igbo tradition be taught as a subject.

One of the sponsors, Mr. Christopher Ezeonye of Gentle Touch Beauty Hair Salon, Owerri pledged that the contestant who happen to emerge winner will be rewarded handsomely, adding that the rewards include professional hair contract, modeling contract, a trip to Dubai among other juicy offers. Speaking at the event, Director of BigStyle entertainment Nigeria, Mr. Onwuegbuchulam Oscar Ifeanyi said, the grand finale is slated for Saturday, July 27, at Summer Suites Hotels, Owerri.
