Lagos State governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, yesterday, appreciated  religious bodies  for their role in maintaining peace and harmony in the state. He said this in a  goodwill message at an interdenominational divine service of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Lagos chapter.

The theme was “As the Father hast sent me into the world so I have sent you”.
Fashola said that despite numerous ethnic groups  in the state, Lagos  enjoys  peace, saying that this has been instrumental to various progresses being made in the state.

He expressed  his gratitude to the church leaders, especially CAN, Lagos chapter, for their prayer for  his administration and prayed that their prayer for  peace in the state will continue to be answered.

Monsgr. B. A. Okodua, chairman of  CAN, Lagos chapter, in his welcome address, noted that the state ought to appreciate God because it has no record of unrest or any religious crises since the inception of democratic rule in the state.

Okodua appreciated the governor for the new face of the state and prayed that  God will continue to sustain the state and the nation.
