Warri Wolves have rubbished reports that goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi has secured a move to South Africa side Chippa United.

South African media report claimed that Akpeyi have signed a deal with Chippa United and the player was quoted as saying that the deal has been completed. However, Warri Wolves stated yesterday that the club did not enter into any negotiation with the Chippa United with regards to the sale of the emerging goalkeeping talent.

It was confirmed that Akpeyi did go for trials with the South African premier league side, but that was the end of discussion with regards to a transfer.

“We haven’t negotiated the transfer of  Akeyi with Chippa United. Some mischievous people are at it again by trying to pass through the back door to do an illegal business said Moses Etu, the club spokesman.

“Ordinarily, we would have ignored the rumour but it kept on spreading like wild fire and we have decided to come out openly to deny the said contract and advise whoever that is interested in any of our player to meet the Management of the Club in Warri. That is the way it is done in a civilized society.” said Moses Etu, the club spokesman.
