Saraki and Ekweremadu
By Anozie Egole
A Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has commended the party’s senators for electing Bukola Saraki as Senate President.
Senator Saraki (APC-Kwara Central) was elected unopposed as President of the 8th Senate by 57 of the 108 senators present, with 51 senators, including Senator Ahmed Lawan, were absent.
Expressing his appreciation, Onuesoke explained that the emergence of Saraki as President with the support of PDP is good news because it would create an independent Senate free from party and executive control.
He argued that those who thought that PDP was dead must be surprised with the way members of the party turned around to spring a surprise.
