Jalingo—Taraba State governor, Darius Ishaku, has ordered for immediate overhauling of the entire water plants in the state.
The order came on the heels of shortage of portable water in the capital city of Jalingo and environs.
The governor wondered why the people would continue to go about in search of drinking water, when the much-needed equipments to pump water to the nooks and crannies of the state were available. He urged those in charge of making water available to the people to urgently do so or face severe actions.
The governor, who gave this directive yesterday through a press statement signed by the Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Sylvanus Giwa, also ordered for immediate repairs of all the boreholes in the state through water pipe networks.
He said he had voted N8.5 million to the state water supply agency for immediate action on the water supply.
He frowned at a situation where due to the lack of portable water in the state, people were compelled to find alternative in unsafe water resources which according to him was hazardous to community health.
