The fourth represent was the winner of last year’s contest, Mr. Chinonso Okezuo who won the Ranger Odyssey event in 2014 but couldn’t travel to Namibia for the major event due to the outbreak of ebola in Nigeria.

Ford increased the number of contestants from Nigeria from one to four this year, which may positively result in Nigeria emerging the winner in Namibia.

Addressing the contestants before the kick off of the event, the Group Managing Director, Coscharis Group, Mr. Josiah Samuel described the event as a special one, which was the second in a row of the annual Ford Ranger Odyssey in-marketing event.

The Group Managing Director who was represented at the occasion by the General Manager Marketing and Corporate Services, Mr. Babarinde Abiona stated that the “Ford Ranger Odyssey contest is an in-market event which has increased awareness and established Ford in the 4 x 4 leisure market as well as appeal to wider demographic while displaying the Ranger’s ‘Built Ford Tough’ off road capability.”

He noted that though the winner of the maiden edition of the event in 2014 in Nigeria, Mr. Chinonso Okezue was unable to represent the country in the international event last year in Namibia due to the travel ban resulting from the ebola crisis in the country, he had been given another opportunity to join the three winners at the 2015 event.

According to him, “the Ranger Odyssey is not a race nor is it a rally, but an extremely tough adventurous expedition. It will however include elements of competition where participants could test their 4×4 driving and mechanical skills, endurance, courage, stamina, perseverance and resilience against the worst that nature could offer.”
