Man arraigned over diesel theft

Lagos—FOURTY-eight years old Syed Kamran has been charged before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court for obtaining 33,000 litres of Diesel (AGO), valued at N4,455,000,00, by false pretence, being property of one Benedict Oyemike, Director of Ogorben Nigeria Limited.

Syed was arraigned before Chief Magistrate  A. O. Komolafe for the crime.

The defendant is facing an 18-count charge of obtaining and stealing, preferred against him by the police.

Specifically, the presecutor, Inspector Eranus Nnamonu, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on January 28 at Ogundele Ogunshina Street, Anthony Village, Lagos.

He said the defendant obtained the said sum under the pretence of remitting the money into the company’s bank account after taking delivery, which he did not do.

According to the presecutor, the offence is contrary to Section 312 (a)(b) and punishable under Section (3) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria.

Magistrate Komolafe admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in the like sum, one of who must be a blood relative, residing in his own building within the jurisdiction of the court, and adjourned the case till June 18.
