Lagos – Tony Konyekwachi, the national boxing coach, says the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) will in June call to camp boxers craving to represent the country at the 11th All African Games (AAG).

Konyekwachi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday that the camp would be opened to all boxers nominated by state boxing associations based on their current form.

The AAG is scheduled to hold in Congo Brazzaville from Sept. 4 to Sept. 19.

The coach said that only good boxers would be selected to represent the country at the AAG.

“We don’t want any disruption to our programme and that is why we have to wait for the swearing-in of the incoming government before calling boxers to camp.

“Selection of the boxers will be based on individual boxers’ current form; only the best will be selected to represent the country,’’ he said.

Konyekwachi advised boxers to study the current rules and regulations of the Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA) to help them to scale through screening during the camping.

“The new AIBA rules will used to select the boxers that will represent the country at the games; it is very important to all the boxers coming into camp to embrace it,” he said.
