Chairman of Oluwakemi Memorial Foundation, Ms. Oyindamola Jaiyesimi, has called on the Federal Government to increase awareness of asthma and position it as a national priority disease.

The call was made during an Inter-School Drama, Art & Poetry Competition in Lagos, organized by the Foundation.

The event, entitled, ‘You Can Control Your Asthma,’ was attended by children from various schools across the country, as judges were drawn from professionals in the health and education sectors.

Speaking at the event, Jaiyesimi pointed out that there was need to educate African communities of the under-estimated effects of Asthma, how to minimise it and emergency procedures during an attack.

Praise Oluwarinu, a pupil of Vivian Fowler Memorial College, told Vanguard that there was a lot to be done in Nigeria concerning asthma.
