AMNESTY delegates deployed in Glassfa Continental Limited and Jimco Global Concept Limited’s training centres in Warri, Delta State, for training in pipeline welding and fabrication, have appealed to the Federal Government to settle their fees to enable them to receive their certificates.
The delegates said in a statement by the group leader, Ariri John, that those trained at Glassfa Continental Limited’s training centre were through with their training, but noted that due to non-payment of their fees and hotel bills, the vendor has refused to issue them with certificates.
John added: “We were posted via Bradama Training Centre on August 28, 2013 and October 14, 2013. During the first three months of our training, we were promptly paid our weekly feeding/hotel allowances as promised by the Federal Government Amnesty Office. Thereafter, the office resorted to monthly payment, and then, stopped payment about few months to the end of our 12 months training.
“We were then asked to go on Christmas break, and that we would be called to resume training immediately after the New Year celebration. We are now five months into the year 2015, but we have not heard anything from the Amnesty Office even after many pleas from us.”
John noted that this was a breach of terms of agreement on the part of the Amnesty Office.
He said the group was issuing one week ultimatum to the Amnesty Office to pay their outstanding arrears.
