File: Militants before the federal govt amnesty programme

Yenagoa—Gunmen have kidnapped a paramount ruler in Nembe Kingdom, Chief Gogo Lambert, the Amayanabo of Biokponga community, Nembe Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.
The gunmen, it was learned, invaded the community at 11:30p.m., Tuesday and whisked the monarch away to an unknown place.
They were said to have shot sporadically into the air before gaining access to Lambert’s home.
The monarch was said to be fast asleep when the gunmen forcefully woke him up and bundled him into a waiting speedboat.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, said the victim was taken away from his community in Nembe-Bassambiri.
He said the police got the report of the incident from the son of the victim, M. Udua, at 12:50 a.m., on Wednesday.
