UMUAHIA—ABIA State governor, Chief Theodore Orji, Monday, said he has laid a solid democratic foundation upon which his successor would build, saying he was unfortunate to inherit nothing from his predecessor.

Orji, who spoke while commissioning the High Court complex in Umuahia, maintained that his administration laid a solid foundation for  good governance in the state.

The governor said he believed  his administration had made a positive impact on the state through its many foundational and legacy projects.

He said the governments coming after him would not be bogged down in building similar institutional frameworks, but would rather focus on other important aspects of government and development.

The govrnor noted that when he assumed office, there was little or no institutions that supported democracy or durable infrastructure that served the need of the people, such as a befitting judiciary, public information building, workers’ secretariat and Government House.

To change the situation, Orji said he embarked on the building of the basic institutions which made democracy thrive.

Governor Orji extended his hands of fellowship to the opposition who, according to him, “sees nothing good in his government,” insisting that there were many projects on ground for the good of the state.

Governor Orji also presented a brand new jeep to the Chief Judge of the state, Theresa Uzokwe, and commended her for being patient.

The governor  assured  that he would fulfil all that was due her.

In her remarks, Justice Theresa Uzokwe expressed gratitude to the governor for the High Court complex, and noted that it was the first time any government in the state was providing such structures for the judiciary in the state, saying they ranked the best in the South-East.
