Warri—An Itsekiri pressure group, the Iwere Progressive Forum has called for the invalidation of the recently conducted elections in Delta State, claiming the polls was a shameful process that was massively rigged by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In a statement released to newsmen in Warri, the group through its convener, Mr. Elijah Egberekomi, described the elections as an irreparably skewed process intended by the PDP to keep pillaging the resources of Delta State for another four or eight years.
Egerekomi accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the military and security agencies of conniving with PDP to subvert the electoral will of the people by the massive irregularities that marred the elections.
He said what the PDP was currently celebrating amounted to jubilating over the proceeds of a heinous electoral crime, and vowed that the party would fail to retain a stolen mandate this time around.
While commending Olorogun Otega Emerhor, the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC in the state for heading for the tribunal to reclaim his mandate, Egerekomi assured him that progressive-minded people across Delta will not relent in their struggle in assisting him in bringing change to the state.
According to him: “APC was rigged out by desperate politicians in the PDP determined to hold the state down while continuing to pocket our resources.”
While heaping praise on the APC for the victory of its presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, he further urged all Deltans to be steadfast in prayer for the salvation of the state, assuring the people of the state that the change they seek will come sooner or later.
