Uboma youths back Imo lawmaker

Youths in Ihitte/Uboma L.G.A who recently stormed the country home of the newly elected Imo House of Assembly member, Dr. (Mrs) Uche Ejiogu have vowed to protect her from what they described as the charm of the older aristocracy and its evils.

Spokesman of the youths, Mr. Achi Chris Achi, an Architect, said that the former Commissioner for Education’s story has been an inspiring one that has always fired the zeal and determination of the young generation to take maximum advantage of the opportunity available to them to acquire good education.

Achi disclosed that the youths effectively participated in the election of the first female legislator since the creation of the council area in 1989, and were happy over the glaring generational change expected to impact positively on the entire inhabitants of the area.

Describing Dr. Ejiogu as a beacon of hope and woman of outstanding intellectual substance, Achi said her representation will undoubtedly open a new vista in the political and economic horizon of the area.

Going down memory lane, Achi, a former Imo State University Students Unionist said that some of Dr (Mrs) Ejiogu track records of performance while serving as chairperson of State Primary Education Board, showed that she repositioned the education sector not just by providing infrastructure but also introduced innovations that redefined education in the State.

We have therefore, unequivocally resolved to stand by her throughout her tenure to ensure that the ‘’hawks” do not derail her. She is visionary and her election was divine. We strongly believe that our constituency will benefit from her wealth of experience and knowledge.”

In his contribution, a youth leader in Amainyi ward, Mr. Kennedy ovuegbe stated that the coming on board of Dr. Mrs. Ejiogu will usher in peace, security, infrastructure development as well as human capital development in the area. He thanked his fellow youths for believing in Dr. Mrs. Ejiogu.

In her remarks, Dr. Mrs. Ejiogu thanked the youths for the honor done on her by not only massively voting for her but also standing by her side. She assured them of her unalloyed support and preparedness to do all within the confines of the law to empower them.

Dr. Mrs. Ejiogu however advised them to distant themselves from social vices and embrace outstanding leadership qualities for the growth of the L.G.A, Imo State and country.
