Reps speaker: Don’t short-change South West, group warns

The zonal leadership of the All progressives Congress, APC in the South West had been cautioned against any step that would undermine the other states of the South-West in favour of Lagos State. According to a release by a group known as the Progressive Coalition Alliance, with Lagos having clinched the second highest office of the land as Vice President, it will be uncharitable for the next legislative office zoned to the South West to be allocated to Lagos State again.

The group, according it spokesperson, Kareem Azeez claims that there are capable and competent hands who can occupy the office of Speaker of the House of Representative from outside Lagos State.

One of such able legislators according to the release is Mr Israel Ajibola Famurewa, representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency covering Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa West and Atakumosa East of Osun State. Famurewa is a returning member to the House of Representatives.

According to the group, Famurewa remained a consistent and loyal party man who had remained a stabilizing factor not only in Ijesa land but throughout Osun State and indeed the whole of the South West.

”In all the committees where Famurewa served in the 7th Assembly, he had seized every opportunity to see to the infrastructural development of all states in the geo-political zone.”
