PORT HARCOURT—The lawmaker representing Ogu/Bolo constituency in the Rivers States House of Assembly, who is also seeking re-election on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Evans Bipi, has commended Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for conducting free, fair and violence-free polls.
Bipi, who is the factional Speaker of the state House of Assembly, in a statement yesterday, while reacting to the calls by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state for the cancellation of the election result, said the election was free, fair and without violence, adding that INEC was up to the task.
He said: “The election was free and fair. I did not hear of any case of fighting, confrontation or whatever, in Ogu/Bolo. It is only those critics who the election did not favour that are spreading rumours that the election was marred with violence.
“I score INEC in Ogu/Bolo 80 percent because they performed better than that of March 28, presidential/National Assembly Elections. As far as I am concerned, there was no crisis in the Ogu/Bolo. It is all in their imagination that there was crisis.”
