Lagos—A coalition of Women Group for Goodluck Jonathan has promised to deliver massive votes from the women for President Goodluck Jonathan in the forthcoming presidential election.
The association, comprising 135 different women supports groups in Lagos State, made this known at press conference in Lagos, as part of their solidarity towards re-electing the incumbent President and to sensitize the nation on their activities.
The Coordinator and Convener of the conference, Prince Marcus Agubataofia, said the entire group had formed a united body to achieve President Jonathan’s re-election, having noticed that no government had given women the sense of belonging as the current President.
He said apart from surpassing the famous 35 percent affirmative action, it was under Jonathan’s administration that sensitive positions such as the Ministers of Petroleum, Aviation, Education, Finance and others, hitherto reserved for men, were given to women.
Agubataofia noted that it was important to carry women along in this crucial time of election, because of their effort and struggle to enshrine good governance and elect a reputable candidate.
