*FasholaLAGOS — Lagos State government is set to commence operation at the just completed first ultra-modern cardiac and renal centre at Gbagada area of the state. The centre, according to the government, was aimed at ensuring local management of cadio-vascular conditions as coronary heart disease as well as chronic kidney diseases.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, who disclosed this, said the centre, billed to be commissioned on Wednesday by Governor Babatunde Fashola is a 67-bed facility within the premises of Gbagada General Hospital.
According to him, the idea behind building the centre stemmed from the need to stop the spate of medical trips abroad as well as build local capacity, especially for ailments that should be treated locally.
