Scorer of Warri Wolves second goal against Dedebit FC, Gbolahan Salami has restated his belief in the ability of his teammates to go to Ethiopia and come out victorious.

Although he admitted there was still a lot of work to put into their preparation, Salami insisted, “we have a team. I believe we have a team that can punish them in their home.

“We need to move, we need to play.”

On why Wolves laboured to a 2-0 victory in the first leg, he said the players stayed back too deep in the first half. “In the first half our players stayed back and were not aggressive. But in the second half we tried to correct that and as a result we made them commit the penalty,” which he converted with aplomb. “I believe in myself. I knew I could do it when I volunteered to take it.”

Salami who just returned from Serbia after a failed attempt to sign a professional contract abroad said, “very soon, I will return to Europe but to which country, I do not know.”

We’ll beat Wolves, progress to next stage – Sanumi 

Dedebit FC Nigerian born striker, Samuel Sanumi is confident Warri Wolves cannot survive in this year’s CAF Confederations Cup competition beyond their second leg encounter in Ethiopia, in a fortnight.

“The second leg is not going to be easy for Wolves. The size of our fans alone will intimidate them,” Sanumi started. “We will definitely defeat them 3-0 and progress.”

He said Warri Wolves were good but Dedebit players were capable of cancelling the two-goal deficit in the second leg. “Wolves are strong in the air and their defence too. But we will deny them of the ball and work hard on our finishing. They can’t withstand our fire power at home,” he concluded.
