Enyimba players during a match against a north African opposition
Enyimba defeated Smouha 1-0 in Aba on Sunday in the CAF Champions league first round first leg match.
The Egyptian team came with a plan to pick a draw, but Enyimba got the victory they deserved.
Enyimba mounted continuous pressure which yielded result in the 55th minute when substitute Rapahel Boumsong headed in Nonso Okonkwo’s cross.
Enyimba set the ball rolling as early as fourth minute when Kingsley Sokari powers in a 25 yards shot off Peter Onyekachi’s pass but Smouha goalkeeper Mahdy Soluman punched it away.
The Egyptian team, Smouha played mostly defensive but Enyimba have been doing all the attack.
Daniel Etor’s effort in the 20th minute comes off the goal post.
On the half hour mark, Daniel Etor took out three Smouha players in front of the box but could not get a return pass from Aloma who was waiting for the ball.
In the 46th minute, Smouha missed a chance to take the lead through Amr Elmen who dribbled past Udoji but failed to hit the target.
