Court strikes out suit against LP, INEC

By Daud Olatunji

ABEOKUTA—A Federal  High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has dismissed a suit filed by former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the state, Mr. Sina Kawonise, declaring that it lacks juridiction to declare him as the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the April 11, 2015 poll in the state.

Kawonise had accused the Labour Party of substituting his name with that of Abolaji Sunmola as governorship candidate for the forthcoming poll after he was duely confirmed by the party congress in the state.

Counsel to Labour Party,  Kayode Akinsola, argued that Kawonise lacked locus standi to file the application because he failed to pay his membership dues as well as the fee for nomination form to contest for the governorship primary of the party.
