I would say they have not disappointed me so far. I want them not to rest on their oars until the Trophy is won for a record seventh time. I know they can do it.
“I sincerely thank the team and their coaches led by Manu Garba for doing the nation proud by winning the FIFA U- 20 World Cup ticket having beaten Congo 4-1 on Wednesday to achieve this feat. The National Sports Commission will honour them like we have been doing to other victorious team if they win this competition”, Elegbeleye assured.

“The National Sports Commission is very happy with the performance of our junior athletics team that emerged overall winner of the just concluded African Junior Athletics Championship in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, winning 12 gold, 8 silver and 7 bronze medals. They have actually defended out position as Africa’s no 1 and we will continue to motivate them to continue to bring more glories to our fatherland.
“The signal is good and points towards achieving success in next year’s Olympic Games in Brazil. I am particularly happy with the rapid improvement of Ese Brume who personally won three gold medals and a bronze in her events. The NSC will continue to assist her in every way we can as well as others to ensure they peak for next year’s Olympics and also win medals for the country in the Games.
