Million Woman March for Endometrosis in progress.

NIGERIA is again taking her place among nations worldwide as activities for the “Million Woman March for Endometriosis Worldwide” kick off in earnest as part of the ongoing campaign to save Nigerian women from the pain and trauma of endometriosis.
Endometriosis an incurable female health disorder that occurs when the endometrium (cells lining the uterus) grow in other areas of the body. It often leads to pain, irregular bleeding and problems getting pregnant.
It occurs in 5-10 percent of women within reproductive age group (15-44 years) worldwide. Women with this condition have 20 percent less chances of having children.
The event, tagged EndoMarch 2015 is taking place tomorrow, Saturday March 14. At least one million women are expected to participate in the historic event.
The march starts at 8:30 am from City Mall Onikan, Lagos and ends at The Lagoon Restaurant, Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue. There will be free consultations, exhibitions by participants, interactive sessions and counseling by the Endo medical teams.
On Saturday March 21 an interactive workshop on endometriosis will take place at 12pm at Nordica Fertility Centres in Asokoro, Abuja; Asaba, Delta State and Ikoyi, Lagos. The event is a stand against endometriosis, seeking to educate, empower, find curative measures and effect change to the debilitating disorder.
Endometriosis is a condition where endometrial tissue is found outside the uterus. It is trapped in the pelvic area and lower tummy (abdomen), not often in other areas of the body and cause pain and discomfort to sufferers.
The event is facilitated by the Endometriosis Support Group Nigeria (ESGN) a not-for-profit organisation (NGO) in conjunction with Nordica Fertility Centre, the foremost Assisted Reproductive Technique (ART) clinic in Nigeria to mark a decade of Endometriosis advocacy and support.
Medical Director, Nordica Fertility Clinic, Lagos, Asaba and Abuja, Dr. Abayomi Ajayi, described the Million Woman March as a global initiative through which women unite to take a stand against endometrioisis.

Worldwide, the month of March is designated for endometriosis and each year, the Endometriosis Support Group, ESGN, marks the month with series of activities. The march is a global initiative where women unite all over the world and take a stand against endometriosis.
