Nigerian clubs in continental contests will return to the pitch this weekend with former CAF Champions league winners, Enyimba of Aba facing Smouha Sporting Club of Egypt in the round of 16 on Sunday, while Dolphins will take on Tunisian giants, Club Africain on Saturday.

For Enyimba coached by Kadiri Ikahana, it is a familiar terrain having battled the Egyptians before. They beat Ismaily in 2003 to the trophy.

But playing against Smouha in Aba, Enyimba need rise above their homes troubles and put down both feet. There have been squabbles over unpaid allowances. However, coach Ikhana said the boy are rock steady for the clash.

We’ve sorted out things with the aggrieved old players and everybody is back to training and united on the task at hand.

“Things are quite better right now, the players are in good mood and I’m the happiest person with the positive turn of events. The North Africans never change, always the same, so we don’t expect the Egyptian opponents to be different though I’m keeping my match plan to myself,” Ikhana said.

Dolphins have worries of their own as they travel to Tunis. Key players Ifeanyi Egwim, Ayobami Asekunnowo and Rufus Ebue will be missing due to injury and suspension.

Warri Wolves will be in Ethiopia to face Dedebit SC on Saturday. And captain, Azubuike Egwuekwe has warned his team mates that the CAF Confederation Cup second round, will not be a walk over.

“We are aware of the herculean task ahead because Dedebit is not a small team. About 42,000 fans were present in their last match so we want our fans to come out in thousands to cheer us to victory. They parade national team players, about seven, so we just have to work hard to see that we do well in the first leg because the second leg would be difficult.” said Azubuike.
