ABUJA—The Escravos-Lagos Pipeline System, ELPS, Gas Pipeline at Inikorogha, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State, has been ruptured by suspected vandals resulting in significant reduction of generated power to the national grid.

General Manager, Public Affairs, Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, Seun Olagunju, said in a statement, yesterday, that about 24 inches of the pipeline was blown off.

Olagunju said this latest act of sabotage has once again affected gas supply to electricity generation and resulted in the reduction of generated power to the national grid.

She said the suspected vandals also struck the Trans-Forcados Pipeline a month ago and while restoration efforts were being completed, they struck again.

The TCN, however, assured that the Federal Government was unrelenting in its efforts to check these acts of sabotage by the introduction of sophisticated technology, in order to provide more reliable and stable power supply to the people.

It regretted any inconvenience the gas pipe disruption  might have caused Nigerians and assured that the NGC was working assiduously to ensure the quick restoration of gas supply through the blasted pipeline to generation companies.
