UMUAHIA—Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has said his opponents were just playing politics with the development of Aba, the commercial nerve of the state.

He said he was the only person genuinely qualified and capable of providing lasting solution to the infrastructure problems of Aba.

According to Okezie, none of his opponents had demonstrated the capacity to provide solutions to the problems of Aba.

He said his opponents’ overriding motive was to score cheap political gains with the infrastructure problems of the commercial city.

Okezie said: “I am very much abreast of the infrastructure problems of Aba as constituted by bad roads, overflowing and blocked drainage. We have developed an action plan towards addressing the problems as established by our study.

“As a matter of fact, my administration will start with Aba by ensuring that most of the worst areas are given urgent attention within six months of our swearing in.

“It is uncharitable and deceitful for some people to play unhealthy politics with Aba and its problems. They lost the fact that most cities in the country are suffering the same problem with Enyimba city.

“These people obviously do not know Aba and its peculiar problems and as such cannot proffer workable and potent solutions to the problems. They are only interested in discrediting the present administration led by Governor Theodore Orji and PDP.

“I am committed to restore Aba as the economic hub in the South-East. We cannot play politics with Aba, rather we are showcasing genuine commitment and sincerity towards rebuilding this mega city.

“With what we have designed, my administration will definitely deliver on the promise of making Aba the China of Africa.”
