Nnewi—In their bid to ensure President Goodluck and his deputy, Namadi Sambo, win the forth coming presidential election, members of South East, South South Commercial Drivers Welfare Association, SSDWA, have secured over 300 buses for campaign rally in Imo, Enugu and Anambra states in second week of March 2015.

They also advised their members to collect their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs.

The states that make up the membership of the association are Anambra, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Cross Rivers and Bayelsa states, the home state of President Jonathan.

Addressing newsmen yesterday on what he called “Last Minute Campaign Rally by South East, and South South Commercial Drivers Welfare Association”, Interim President General of the association, Chief Nnamdi Okafor, disclosed that they would kick off their campaign rally for President Jonathan in Anambra State.

According to him, the campaign train will move to Imo and Enugu states where members from other states of the two zones would join.

“We have written a letter to the Governor of Anambra state Governor Obiano soliciting for his consent and assistance on security and to shore up our stretched resources to cover other numerous logistics in organizing the rally.

“We shall patrol the states with over 300 buses from Anambra to Owerri, to Enugu and to Awka and back to the venue at All Saints Cathedral Onitsha where we will meet with other members of the association who will come from the states we did not visit that day,” he said.

Chief Okafor said the group had given its drivers orientation and enlightenment on the need to collect their PVC to ensure they participate in the general election to vote President Jonathan and Sambo ticket.

He added: “Drivers of today are no more drivers of yesterday, we must participate in voting those that will represent us, and we have been enlightening our drivers on the essence of good conducts to our passengers.

“Our assurance is that 95 percent of South East and South South commercial drivers vote will go to President Jonathan and Sambo. We have spoken with one voice that will work for them to ensure victory.”
