Senator Ali Ndume, who is one of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, as a result of the Boko Haram onslaught on the three states of North-east of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, has said that despite the recent success recorded by the military in the fight to rid the states of insurgency, the displaced people were still reluctant to go back to their homes for the fear of counter attacks.

Ndume, representing Borno South, also said the 30 Mobile Police officers, reported missing about six months ago when the terrorist group, Boko Haram, struck in his area, were yet to be seen.

Speaking in an interview on the security situation in his constituency as elections draw nearer, he said that the combined efforts of the Nigerian military alongside their neighboring Chad, Niger and Cameroon had made tremendous success in reclaiming the areas that fell under the control of Boko Haram.

He noted that the commitment made by the Federal Government in the past few weeks, if it had been the same commitment from the beginning, the insurgency would not have lasted more than two weeks.
