St. Agnes House has emerged the overall winner of the 16th biennial Inter house sports festival of the Maryland Convent Private School in Lagos.
Spotting radiant red colours, the St. Agnes house assumed absolute dominance, carting away a total of 10 gold, 11 silver and 5 bronze medals to emerge tops in the school games which was sponsored exclusively by the flagship Chikki noodles brand.
Chinasa Elebeonu also of St. Agnes house was adjudged overall best athlete of the year 2015.
Also, Infant Jesus House in green colours emerge as second best team of the competition having a total of 8 Gold, 2 silver, and 10 bronze medals, while Our Lady of Apostles House In white colours took the third position with 6 Gold, 5 Silver and 7 bronze medals.
In addition, St Augustine house spotting blue colours assumed forth position with a total of 5 Gold, 8 Silver and 7 bronze medals and St. Antony House in yellow colours coming last with 5 Gold, 8 Silver and 5 bronze medals.
The events which took place at the sports ground of Maryland Comprehensive secondary school kick started with a touch of unity relay race involving representatives of the five participating houses and was witnessed by a huge crowd of spectators that included parents, teachers, and visiting students of neighbouring schools in the area.
It was indeed a mix grill of sports, fun and entertainment as the event featured various hilarious activities such as match past, fashion and cultural parades, Slippers race, Tiny Tot games, Filling the basket, Lime and Spoon race, Threading The Needle as well as Parents and Teachers relay race.
The participating teams had engaged in very fierce competition involving several sporting activities including Football, Bicycle Race, Sack Race, Chubby Race, Dressing for School, High Jump, Long Jump, athletics among others.
