BOMADI—Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has sent a peace delegation to Ezebiri community in Bomadi Local Government Area of the state, whose son was killed by suspected youths of Ufrukama, a neighbouring community in Ughelli South Local Government Area, over bailing of a fish pond.

The high-powered peace delegation which comprised the Chairman of Bomadi council, Chief Oluwole Karetimi and his team, his Ughelli counterpart, Paul Etega and his team, the Nigeria Police force led by Area Commander, Mr Pedro, the Joint Task Force, JTF, in both councils led by their commanders, Capt. Robert (Bomadi) and Lt. Jatau (Ughelli South) as well as representatives of the media, arrived Ezebiri at 1.30p.m, and were led into the community hall where members of the community were gathered to hear from the government.

Sympathizing with the community for the loss, Chief Karetimi commended the people of Ezebiri for their maturity in handling the issue, as he appealed to them to keep it up to enable government and the security agencies see the case to its logistic conclusion.

His Ughelli South counterpart, Etega, appealed for calm and urged the people to continue to maintain their peaceful disposition since it involves a case between sister communities that had already lived over the years together through inter-ethnic marriage.

In their response, the community elders and leaders thanked government for the concern and assured that they will continue to prevail on their young men to calm down as they await the conclusion of the case.
