Jonathan

LAGOS — A Lagos-based management consultant, Mr Vincent Omovusu, has said the alleged political alliance being promoted against the second term aspiration of President Goodluck Jonathan will crumble like a pack of cards because Jonathan remains the best and the most credible candidate for the 2015 presidential election.
Omovusu, who made this assertion in a chat with newsmen in Lagos said President Jonathan had been rated above any military head of state and particularly, civilian presidents that have ruled over the affairs of Nigeria.
He enumerated the achievements of President Jonathan to include resuscitation of railways, adding that the era of people sleeping at the petrol station to buy fuel at exorbitant rate has gone for good.
He maintained that the “mystery surrounding fuel subsidy which many have used in defrauding the country was blown open by President Jonathan administration, a situation which has pitted him against those hiding under subsidy to defraud the country,” maintaining that fuel subsidy should be removed because the common man has nothing to gain from it.
Other achievements of Jonathan’s administration, according to him, include the building and equipping about 64 Almajiri schools with boarding facilities, establishment of 12 universities in the three geo-political zones of the country, and award more than 300,000 scholarships to Nigerians students undergoing education courses overseas under SURE-P.
On Boko Haram, Omovusu said the Islamic sect had been in existence before the coming of Jonathan to power, saying it only became pronounced and more vicious immediately President Jonathan won the 2011 presidential election.
According to him, “the solution to the insurgency rests with the North. The moment President Jonathan leaves office Boko Haram will cease automatically because it was promoted primarily against the administration of President Jonathan.”
He said Jonathan was doing his best to curtail the activities of the sect.
On Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s dumping of the PDP, he said the former president was not happy that he is out of government because he wanted to control the affairs of the country from his Otta farm, noting: “It is absurd for him to have tore his party membership card. It is an embarrassment to the country.”
