Ex-member of Lagos club alleges threat to life

By Onozure Dania

Lagos—A former entertainment chairman of Ikoyi Club 1938, Gbenga Gbadesire, has appealed to Lagos State Commissioner of Police Lagos to come to his aid over alleged threats to his life by four members of the club.

Gbadesire said during his tenure between February 2006 and February 2008, a lot of issues came up due to varying interests.

He said some of the issues that came up then could not be handled properly, and things degenerated to the extent that he was suspended, even as the complainant.

He said as he attempted to appeal the suspension, he was expelled, prompting him to approach a Lagos High Court that gave the club a restraining order.

Gbadesire said that on Friday, November 2, 2013, a trustee of the club made the club to expel him again, though there was a notice of appeal, coupled with the fact that the 90-day moratorium for appeal had neither elapsed nor any letter written to him on the expulsion, which caused him embarrassment at the club.

According to him, security men at the club refused him entry in the presence of guests and members of the club on the aforementioned date.

He also alleged that the four members of the club with their agents and privies resorted to calling and texting him with known and unknown mobile phone numbers, issuing him threats.

Gbadesire, who said he had been hiding in defferent houses, alleged that those after his life were not relenting.

He said they carried out a practical implementation of their threats when they sent hired assassins to his home address at 21, Okesuna Street, Lagos on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
