NGG calls for free, fair polls

By Eric Ugbor

ABA—AN Igbo socio-cultural group, Ndigbo for Good Governance, NGG, has called for a free, fair and acceptable poll that would truly reflect the wishes of the citizenry in the March 28 and April 11 rescheduled elections.

NGG also demanded that candidates of all political parties vying for different elective positions embraced civilized politics of issues relevant to the peoples’ well being and national development during their campaigns.

The group, in a statement by the Coordinator, Chima Ebere Nwankwo, condemned in strong terms the political brawl and violence in recent times among candidates of various political parties, despite the Abuja peace accord entered into by political parties’ leaders and their presidential candidates.

NGG, while describing March and April elections as crucial for the survival of Nigeria, called on registered voters yet to get their Permanent Voter’s Card, PVC, to do so without further hesitation to ensure that they had the opportunity to vote for the right candidates of their choice.

It commended President Goodluck Jonathan for nominating an Abia son, Col. Austin Akobundu (retd) as a minister and and enjoined the Senate to confirm his nomination.
