The recent adoption of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, by a faction of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, as the consensus Urhobo candidate for the 2015 governorship election, has been described as the right decision and in line with the Uvwiamuge declaration aimed at producing a credible governor.

The APC Campaign Media Director, Dr. Fred Oghenesivbe, in a statement, said that the factional President-General of UPU, Chief Tuesday Onoge and his executive were men of impeccable integrity, who deemed it wise to align with the yearnings and aspirations of the Urhobo nation.

He said that Emerhor and the campaign team received the news of the consensus endorsement with joy, adding that even though the APC had made solid preparations for the governorship elections as a result of its winning structures in Delta State, the UPU endorsement of Emerhor will further facilitate victory for the APC in the April governorship election in the state.

Oghenesivbe said that the misrule of the past and the inability of the Federal Government to decisively tackle the problems of insecurity, poverty and dwindling economic fortunes of Nigeria have to a large extent earned Nigeria a bad image in the international community.

He called on the Federal Government to stop the spate of media propaganda and attacks on the APC and its presidential candidate, pointing out that Nigerians were today wiser than in 1999 and so no amount of scheming and politics of hate can stop them from voting for change.
