BENIN—NO fewer than 400 graduates in Edo State are undergoing computer training under the Technical Vocation Education Training, TVET, facilitated by the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme, SURE-P.

Former National President, Trade Union Congress, TUC, Mr Peter Esele, who visited the trainees in Benin, Tuesday, told newsmen that the aim of the training programme was to ensure that those trained would be able to stand on their feet as well as fend for themselves at the end of the training.

“What we hope to achieve from this programme is very clear. To ensure that those being trained stand on their feet and fend for themselves,” he said, adding that apart from the beneficiaries getting the computers used for the training, they are also being paid N20,000 allowance monthly throughout the duration of the training.

He added that as the person directly responsible for the TVET aspect of SURE-P on behalf of the Chairman, Gen. Martin Luther Angwai (rtd), “this training will last for 12 weeks and it is costing us about N400 million.”
