Gusau—Governor Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari Abubakar of Zamfara State and the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in the state, Alhaji Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, have asked their supporters to remain calm and avoid anything that could cause unrest in the state.
They spoke during an emergency meeting of Zamfara State Elders Forum with political party leaders, against the backdrop of the postponement of the February 14, presidential election in the country to March 28. Yari who is a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, is the candidate of his party for the governorship election in the state.
The elders, under the leadership of the former NSO Boss, Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi had appealed to politicians in the state to caution their supporters against violence or any action capable of undermining the security situation in the area.
In their separate news conferences, the two governorship candidates expressed disgust over the postponement of the elections but warned their supporters to shun violence and remain calm for peace to reign in the state.
