UMUAHIA—ABIA State governor, Chief Theodore Orji, has said he was seeking a senate seat to fight for things denied the zone and the state before now.

Governor Orji, who spoke at Community Primary School, Obeaku in Ukwa East and Obehie Primary School in Ukwa West, during the PDP’s campaign flag off in the area, pledged to work with other federal legislators from the state to attract more dividends of democracy to the state.

According to him, federal attention will be drawn to the state if all legislators from the state with one voice.

Orji, who is contesting Abia Central senatorial district seat, explained that as the leader of the party in the state, he had never and would never ask anyone from Ukwa to leave the PDP for another party.

He urged the people to ignore whoever told them such a thing, stressing that the PDP remained the only party with national spread.

Orji also pointed out that it was only in the PDP that the Igbo will realize their political dreams.

He urged Ukwa people to vote for President Jonathan and other candidates of the party in the forthcoming elections, saying the party was parading the best candidates.

In his remarks, the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, promised to serve Abia well if elected and pledged to re-engineer the economy of the state.

He also promised to reconstruct Ndoki road if elected governor.

In their remarks, some stakeholders of the party in the two local government areas, including former Senate President, Chief Adolphus Wabara, Chief Emeka Stanley, Chief Sam Nwogu and Mr. Mezie Ubani, commended the governor for ceding the governorship seat of the state to Abia South.

They assured him of their support for the candidates of the party.
