Itsekiri Rescue Group backs Emerhor

WARRI—Itsekiri Rescue Group has thrown its weight behind Delta State governorship candidate, O’tega Emerhor of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as it stated that O’tega Emerhor’s committment to a pan-Deltan vision of Delta where all are equal under God, as part of its reasons.

In a statement signed by Temisan Yalaju and Adonis Egbe, the group said: “We do not owe PDP any obligations; they are the ones owning us the deluge of votes we have consistently given the party since 1999 including the deluge of votes we gave to President Goodluck Jonathan the last time.

“This time we shall be giving our votes and more to the APC and its candidate, a man who has never offended the Itsekiris in any way and has always displayed a heartfelt disposition of love and respect for the entire Itsekiri kingdom.

“We trust him to be a true gentleman committed to a pan-Deltan vision of Delta where we are all equal under God. O’tega is truly detribalized and quintessentially cosmopolitan in his world view, as he represents a paradigm shift from the politics that has made us the laughing stock of Nigeria despite the enormous resources of our very rich state.

“We say no to the manner in which the Delta PDP has configured its political vision for the next dispensation and condemn it as a visionless vision. It is a template for ethnic domination, inter-tribal disharmony and political disunity.”
