Fast rising music and entertainment outfit, Big Star Records and Entertainment Limited, has just been named the Next Rated Label of the year at the prestigious Festac Music and Entertainment Awards (FMEA).
The record label grabbed the award following its consistent promotion and support of young music talents from across the country in less than two years of inception. According to Frenzy Media, organizers of the award, Big Star Records has displayed great patriotism in ensuring that youths are diverted from dangerous social vices by encouraging most of them who have music talents.
“This young entertainment outfit, within just two years of existence, has displayed great patriotism considering the number of youths it has nursed from scratch who have grown to become leading lights of tomorrow’s Nigerian entertainment sector.”
“Most of these youths, who would have been roaming the streets and perhaps engaging in unwholesome acts, are musicians today who would produce tomorrow’s tunes for everyone’s pleasure. That is why we recognise the outfit as the Next Rated Record Label of the year. We believe that this award would encourage them to do more,” said the organizers.
Meanwhile, an artiste on the label, Ahmed Adeola, a.k.a Rymez, also grabbed the Rookie of the Year award, making it two awards for the record label in one day. Rymez whose single track ‘One Parole’ is enjoying massive airplay in the eastern and western parts of the country was rewarded for his maverick performance and sonorous voice which sets him out from his peers.
Although Rymez is not new to awards, having won the Next Rated Artiste of the Year award from Cruizin Records last year, the Oyo state born 17 year old R&B/Afro Pop singer said the award particularly is fulfilling, having been nominated in three categories.
Receiving both awards, he said: “ I am not surprised that Big Star Records received this recognition tonight. Within few months of signing on the label, everything about me changed for good. I feel as if I am just beginning this business because the label taught me a lot of new things about entertainment. I can now proudly compete in the world without fear because the foundation is solid. I dedicate the awards to God and the entire Big Star crew who are working tirelessly to see that the Nigerian entertainment industry continues to take its pride of place in the scheme of things around the globe.”
