The Emir of Kano, His royal Highness, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has urged Muslims to preach Islam in the correct manners and reflect its true teachings in their lives.
Also, the Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola advised Muslims to be torch-bearers, adding that no one would read the Holy Quran and be found in anti-social and criminal activities.
The duo made the call at the 29th National Quranic competition organised by Centre for Islamic Studies, Usman Dan Fodio, University, Sokoto in conjunction with Edo State government, held in Auchi recently.
Meanwhile, 10 (seven males and three females) of those who memorized the Holy Quran at the Hafizul Quran School established by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at at Ilaro, Ogun state Southwest, Nigeria were among other young Hufaz that won various prizes at the event.
The Hufaz represented Lagos,Ogun,Ondo, Ekiti and Edo states in various categories of the competition.
Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Sheu of Borno, Emir of Zaria as well as the Emir of Tallata Mafara were among other dignitaries at the event.
Hadiza Taleemun (Female) from Plateau State emerged overall winner and got a brand new Lexus Jeep and N500,000 cash prize while the overall winner (male) Yusuff Muhammad Baffa Daku from Gombe State, went home with brand new Toyota Jeep and N500,000 in addition to Toyota Avensis each for First and second Male and female categories.
The additional prizes were presented by Edo state government, while Vice President Arch. Namadi Zambo presented cash prizes for first to fifth positions in both categories.
