ONITSHA—The Labour Party candidate for Anambra State governorship election fixed for next month, Dr Andy Uba has distributed 21 tractors and 315 motorcycles to the 21 local government areas in the state as part of his commitment to empower the people at the grassroots and urban areas.

Uba made the disclosure weekend at Otuocha in Anambra East Local Government Area, when he addressed thousands of party supporters, who turned out to welcome him on his campaign tour to the place.

Handing over a tractor and 15 motorcycles to members of the party , Uba, who said the tractor was to enable the people to be more productive in agriculture, promised to rehabilitate the roads in Otuocha, especially the one  linking them to Asaba.

At Farther Joseph’s Secondary School, Uba could not hide his emotions at the sight of the dilapidated structures at the College, where the present Governor, Mr Peter Obi was said to have been taught by Uba’s running mate, Chief Edwin Ndife.

Uba assured that he will rehabilitate the dilapidated buildings, which the local government said they had appealed to Obi for assistance without any response. Uba solicited for their support in the February 6 governorship poll.

It was more of a show of popularity at Anambra East council, as four of the major contenders  fixed their campaign rallies close to each other.
