Bauchi—The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl.
The suspect, Auwalu Abdullahi, of Tilden Fulani in Toro Local Government Area, Bauchi State, was arrested by police detectives from Toro Division.
Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Haruna Mohammed, said the suspect was arrested on January 4.
He said: “On January 4, at 3p.m., detectives attached to Toro Division arrested one Auwalu Abdullahi, aged 25, of Tilden Fulani in Toro council.
“The suspect lured an eight years old girl, the daughter of his neighbour, into an uncompleted building and raped her. Scene of crime was visited and the victim was rushed to the hospital for medical examination where penetration was confirmed.”
Four arrested
for theft, vandalism
Similarly, two suspected car thieves were also arrested by police at State Lowcost in Bauchi metropolis, according to Mohammed.
He said: “On January 5, at 2a.m., police detectives attached to State Anti-Robbery Squad, while on patrol at State Lowcost, Bauchi, arrested one Abdullahi Musa, 25, of Railway Bauchi and one Lawal Mohammed, 32, male of Kafur in Katsina State.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects specialized in stealing motor vehicles and have confessed to stealing many vehicles, especially Honda Civic.
“Further investigation also revealed that suspects are habitual criminals and have been convicted of similar offence and sentenced to imprisonment, where they met and became partners in crime.
“In a related development, detectives attached to State Anti-Robbery Squad equally smashed a syndicate, which specialized in vandalizing Nitel cables on same day, 1:3a.m., while on patrol on Wunti Street, Bauchi.”
Exhibits recovered from the suspects, according to Mohammed, include seven Nitel cables, two hack saw, and one cutting machine.
He said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
