CAF AWARDS: Amuneke roots for Enyeama

CAF AWARDS: Amuneke roots for Enyeama

Vincent Enyeama

Ahead of the Glo/CAF awards taking place this week in Lagos, Chief Coach of the national U-17 team, Emmanuel Amuneke has expressed his desire to see Nigeria ending the draught in the continental honours by the Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyama emerging as the African Footballer of the Year.

Amuneke told Vanguard Sports in Abuja that his position for Enyama to clinch the prestigious award was not born out of sentiment but because of the sterling qualities of the goal tender whom he noted has been the backbone of the Super Eagles.

“For me personally as a Nigerian I will want Enyama to win it not just because he is a Nigerian but for what he has been able to do on the field of play in the past year. He has been very productive both for country and club and it will be a boost to our football and especially the upcoming players”.

Amuneke who himself is a former winner of the award however added that the competition will be fierce because the two other players penciled for the final list are prospective winners because they have equally done well in their own rights.
